East Plains people raised approximately $2,400 in donations for the support of children's programs of Wesley Centre in downtown Hamilton. Wesley was founded by United Church congregations about 60 years ago, and continues to be supported by the UCC M & S and many congregations in the greater Hamilton area.
The Wesley children's programs include after school care and recreation, usually for the children of one parent families; counselling and recreational programs around the city for children and youth, summer camps in the city, low cost early child care for low income families.
