BAPTISMS

Baptism is a first step in our lives of faith. For parents with a young child it is a time to include their child in the faith and family of God's care. Baptism serves as a time for them to acknowledge the gift of their child's life in their lives and the hope their child will grow to discover the love that God holds out for their child.

Baptism uses water as a symbolic cleansing that signifies the acceptance of new life within the church family. The sacrament of baptism is the single rite of initiation into the Christian community, the church.

For adults this step of faith is a time to acknowledge the place of God in their lives. The gift of Christ's love is one we are all invited to share and to be blessed by. The first step of faith is affirmed and shared by this act of baptism. For those interested in understanding this step in their lives - there are baptism and membership classes available.

The United Church of Canada recognizes baptisms done in other faith communities. New members who are already baptized are received by Transfer from other congregations or by individual Affirmation of Faith.

Please be in touch with the church or the minister if this step of faith is one that you desire to make.
